Hendra Maulizar is widely recognized as a pioneering figure in Indonesian specialty coffee processing. His father, Hamdan, moved to Aceh in 2006 and began growing coffee, inspiring Hendra to start his own coffee farm in 2010. From humble beginnings with just one hectare of land, Hendra and his family have since expanded their farm to 10 hectares, producing 40 tonnes of coffee at their washing station. Through focused investment and post-harvesting facilities, including a wet mill, gravitation washing channels, and raised drying beds, Hendra has established himself as a leader in the industry.
We have had the privilege of sourcing coffee from Hendra to showcase some of the finest coffee that Indonesia has to offer. His coffee ranked 7th in Indonesia’s Cup of Excellence in 2021, a testament to his dedication and expertise. Hendra continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in coffee production, experimenting with new varieties and processing methods. His tireless pursuit of the best coffee possible is a testament to his unwavering spirit and commitment to excellence.
Hendra is the maestro of Indonesia’s coffee industry, and his carbonic-maceration-processed coffee, “Maulizar Op.13”, bears his name as a tribute to his contribution to the industry.
